Microdermabrasion for Facial Rejuvenation
How does it work? What does it do?
We use a state of the art device called the diamondtome. The diamondtome has tiny diamond crystals embedded in the tip of the wand that gently abrade the surface of your skin depending on the amount of pressure used. In its most gentle application it removes dead and diseased skin cells, unblocks clogged pores, improves circulation and causes a regenerative response in your skin. Over time and with repeated treatments this results in a smoothing of your skin surface, decreasing irregularities such as lines, scarring, the roughening of sun damage, and acne.
A more vigorous abrasion may be indicated for deep scarring from acne, injury, or surgery. A medical dermabrasion is an option but we only recommend this when recovery time is available. This is a less expensive and gentler option for those considering laser ablation or deep resurfacing.
Who can benefit from Diamond Microdermabrasion?

Diamond microdermabrasion is effective for the treatment of acne scarring, fine lines, open pores on the face (seborrheic hyperplasia), those with surgical scars, keloids, and roughened sun damaged skin.
What happens during a typical treatment? How does it feel?
Generally it is very comfortable with a slight tingling and a ruddy glow afterwards. Generally the entire face, neck, or decolletage are treated. Hands and back areas are also popular and some even enjoy their ears getting treated!
How long does it take to see results?
The redness after a treatment generally fades within 24 hrs and new skin growth begins immediately. A series of 5-10 treatments will likely afford you the optimal results from the microdermabrasion itself. At our clinic we usually combine the diamond microdermabrasion with other treatments to get a synergistic effect. These other treatments include photodynamic therapy with levulan, treatment with IPL, skin tightening with the Pelleve, or skin peels using fruit acids, Jessner, or TCA alone.
